PRODUCT NAME: GOS is short for Galacto-oligosaccharides


BRIEF INTRODUCTION:

Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) occur naturally in human milk. GOS are soluble non-digestible carbohydrates, structured as chains of galactose with a glucose end-piece. GOS are produced through the enzymatic conversion of lactose. During an enzymatic process, lactose is first cut in glucose and galactose. After cutting, the enzyme builds sugar strings of different lengths from galactose with one glucose unit. Comprised of di-, tri-, tetra-, penta-, and hexasaccharides, mainly consisting of galactose units.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION:

The product should be stored on the pallet, in a light-proof, well-closed, cool, dry and ventilated place (at a temperature of 18-25℃ and a relative humidity of ≤60%). Following the above guidelines should insure 12-month shelf life. After opening the original packing, the complete content should be used immediately. Material can be microbiologically contaminated from unhygienic environment. It is a non-dangerous product and can be transported as a common chemical product. Protect them from sunshine or rain. Must not be loaded and transported with toxic, hazard outstand polluting substances. Handle with care in order to avoid damaging the package.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has affirmed GOS as GRAS (generally recognized as safe).

Europe

GOS is listed as food ingredient and can be added to infant formula food, and the maximum amount shall not exceed 0.8g/100mL.

Japan

GOS is used as functional food, and which is added to dairy products as prebiotics.

Australia/New Zealand

GOS can be added to infant formula food and the maximum amount shall not exceed 0.8g/100ml.
