PRODUCT INTRODUCTION:
Stevia is a new natural sweetener which is extracted from the stevia leaves (Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni). It has a high sugar sweetness equivalent level with extremely low caloric value. Its sweetness is 200-300 times that of cane sugar and its caloric value is 1/300 that of cane sugar. After a large amount of laboratory testings, stevia sugar has been proven to be without any toxic and side-effect, non-carcinogenic and is safe to be consumed. If taken frequently, it can prevent a lot of diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease and tooth decay, etc. It is an ideal sweetener in place of cane sugar. Stevia can be widely used in food, beverages and drinks, medicine, chemical products for daily use, wine-making, cosmetics, flavorings, etc. industries. Compared with using cane sugar, it can reduce cost by as much as 60%. Stevia is off-white color, with appropriate taste, free of peculiar smell and is a new sugar source with a very bright future. At present, stevia has been approved by P. R. China’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Light Industries as a natural, low calorie sweetener whose taste is closest to that of cane sugar. Besides cane sugar and beet sugar, it is the third natural sweetener with full potential for further development and specifically for those in pursuit of health. It is globally recognized as “The 3rd International Sweetener Source”.

GREEN
Stevia is a natural sweetener extracted from Stevia leaves.
SAFE
Stevia has been consumed for over 400 years at its place of origin in Paraguay. To-date, no harmful illness has been associated with stevia. Stevioside does not participate in human’s metabolism. It does not accumulate within the body, it is non-toxic and its safety has been recognized by both the FAO and WHO.
Stevia has been widely used in Japan where there is no upper limit on the quantity that may be consumed for this type of sweetener. The Ministry of Health in China in 1985 and again in 1990 separately approved stevia as the natural sweetener and a supplement as sweetener agent for medicine applications.
HIGH SWEETNESS
Stevia’s sweetness is 200-300 times that of cane sugar. Stevioside and Rebaudioside–A are the main components of Stevia. The sweetness is pure, cool and lasting and its natural sweetness resembles that of cane sugar. In comparison to cane sugar, we can reduce significantly the cost of production and save at least 60% in costs. At the same time, we will be able to save the transportation and warehousing components of expenses.
LOW CALORIE
Total caloric value from stevia is only 1/300 of that of cane sugar. It can be used in the making of low-calorie food and drinks. Stevia is especially suitable for patients with diabetics, obesity, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, dental cavities and so on.
HEALTHY
Stevia is recognized as a nutritional food and health supplement by people in global medical fields.
400 years ago, the original inhabitants in Paraguay began making use of Stevia as a herbal medicine to cure common colds, influenza and fistula hyperemia. Modern medical research studies show that Stevia is helpful in regulating blood sugar level, blood pressure, raising energy level and improving brain activity. It is also helpful in reducing body fat and for weight control. In addition, it has good effects on skin care and in treating other skin related diseases.
EFFICIENEY
Stevia is stable in its form and does not react to acid, alkali, heat and light. It does not ferment. It does not get mouldy and deteriorate in quality if stored for a long time. As a sweetener in beverage and food, it can slow the growth of bacteria thus prolong the freshness quality guaranteed period. PRODUCT FOUR SERIES:
1) Stevioside
Properties: It is white to off-white powder or granules with cool flavor which is about 250 times as sweet as cane sugar with slight bitter aftertaste in high concentration conditions. The sweetness can stay longer in the mouth and not easy to disappear. The melting point is 196℃-198℃ . Stevioside is able to endure in high temperature, and more stable in acidic and alkaline solution (PH5-7). It also can be easily dissolved in ethanol. It belongs to nonfermented products so it can be widely used in the food which is difficult to sterilize by heating and would keep white without any Maillard brown reaction. It’s much closer to cane sugar compared with the other natural sweeteners, while the drawbacks are the large molecular weight and poor permeability.
Applications: As a non-calorie sweetener for food, it contributes to low the blood pressure, and cure the acid stomach etc. It also can be used as a kind of sweeting agent for liquorice or cane sugar.
2) Rebaudioside A
Properties: White to off-white crystalline powder or granules. It is the best ingredients in stevia sugar with 300-400 times as sweet as the cane sugar while the calorie is only 1/300 of the cane sugar. Its taste is much closer to the can sugar without any bitter taste. It is the substitute of stevia sugar while at the same time it can keep the original sweet taste and also the sweet taste is not easy to disappear in the mouth. The melting point is 196℃-198℃.It can be resistant at high temperature and more stable in the acidic and alkali solution (PH5-7). It can better the foods’ tastes and improve the quality of the products.
Applications: It can be used as the substitute of cane sugar with low costs, better tastes, and can be widely used in the food industry, beverage, pickles, cosmetics, medicine, health care, and so on.
3) Glucosyl Stevioside
Properties: White to off-white powder, flake or granules. The Glucosyl Stevioside, which is more like cane sugar, has overcome the shortcomings such as different purity, low solubility, and the bitter taste of the general stevia sugar. It can 100% substitute the cane sugar compared with 60% of the general stevia sugar and greatly cut the costs. It’s 100-200 times as sweet as the cane sugar while the sweetness taste is cool. The Glucosyl Stevioside is commonly used as the dispersing agent in lactose, malt dextrin etc to low down the sweetness to 0.5-1 times of cane sugar. Usually it’s stable in food processing conditions (acidity and heating) and easily soluble in water and alcohol.
Applications: It is mainly used in the low calorie food, carbonated beverage, juice, freshments, pickles , aquatic product and so on.
4) Dietsugar
Properties: Dietsugar is the mixture of high Rebaudioside A and Maltodextrin. It is a kind of white powder、granules or tablets with 10 times sweetness and extremely low calorie. Its sweetness is very pure and no bitter aftertaste. It contains no cane-sugar and saccharin, aspartame or any synthetic sweeteners. It is very stable in acidic and alkaline solutions, easy to be dissolved in ethanol, resistant to high temperature and it belongs to non-fermented products.

STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION:
The product should be stored on the pallet, in a light-proof, well-closed, cool, dry and ventilated place. Following the above guidelines should insure 24-month shelf life. After opening the original packing, the complete content should be used immediately. Material can be microbiologically contaminated from unhygienic environment. It is a non-dangerous product and can be transported as a common chemical product. Protect them from sunshine or rain. Must not be loaded and transported with toxic, hazard outstand polluting substances. Handle with care in order to avoid damaging the package.

Measurement of purity of stevia sugar
1) Preparation of standardized solution
Put standardized stevia into a drying oven at 105 centigrade, and stay for 2 hours, then 4 samples (120 mg, 90 mg, 60 mg, and 30 mg) are drawn from the oven, and all are dissolved in acetonitrile / water solution by the ratio 80: 20 respectively, and is diluted to 25 ml respectively.
2) Treatment of sample solutions
120 mg sample is procured from the drying oven, and is dissolved in acetonitrile / water solution by the ratio 80:20, and is also diluted to 25 ml respectively, shaking it until it is well-distributed.
3) Conditions of the liquid phase chromatographic analysis

Firstly measure the 4 standardized stevia solutions and draw a standardized curve (peak area A---concentration curve). Then test the stevia sample solution to record peak area Aa, Ac, As, Ad and Ad’ of rebaudioside A, rebaudioside C, stevioside, dulcoside A and steviolbioside respectively, and times 1.20, 1.18, 1.00, 0.98. 0.80, their values are Aa’ Ac’, As’, Ad’ and Abb. Then the slope of the standardized cure K=A/C, and calculate the content of the above five compositions Pi (%).
4) Description of the analytical result.

“i” refers to “ a, c, s d, b”
“m” refers to the quality of the sample, g.
By calculations, Pa, Pc, Ps, Pd and Pb are work out. And the total content of the stevia sugar is that Pa+Pc+Ps+Pd+Pb.
Measurement of sweetness
Firstly prepare 2% sucrose/water solution. In the meanwhile 2ml stevia sugar is mixed with 100 ml water. Then taste the two solutions and make the comparison. When the sweetness of 2% sucrose/water is equivalent to the stevia solution, then n value is the sweetness of stevia sugar.
Measurement of specific optical rotation
1) Instruments
Optical rotation tester, 25 ml glass vessel with ruler, beaker (25 ml)
2) Testing method
0.25 g sample is put into a beaker, and a little water is added. Then it will be moved into a 500 ml glass vessel, and measure it by 370 nm using optical gauge.

Measurement of moisture
Prepare a glass-made flat cup and put it into a drying oven at 95-100 centigrade, the lid of the cup is aside, and heats it for half an hour, weigh the cup. Do the above continuously so as to get a fixed value.
Prepare 2-10 g stevia sample, and put it into a glass vessel, the thickness of the sample is 5 mm. Put the lid onto the vessel, precisely weigh it and place it into drying oven at 95-105 centigrade, and the lid is aside, dry for 2-4 hours, take it out while the lid is placed right, then place it into a dryer for cooling half an hour, weigh it. Then do the above job again. The mean error between the first job and second job shall not exceed 2 mg, then it is regarded a fixed value.

Testing Method of Ash
Prepare a suitable porcelain crucible and place it into a high temperature stove, stay for half an hour at 600 centigrade, then cool it till 200 centigrade and take it out; Put it into a dryer for cooling till room temperature, then weigh it. Do the job again till a fixed value comes out.
Add 2-3 g solid sample or 5-10 g liquid sample to the crucible and accurately weigh it.
Liquid sample should be steamed in boiling water. Solid sample or steamed sample shall be heated by little fire till the sample is fully carbonized without smoke, then place it into the high temperature stove, and burn it at 550-600 centigrade till carbon particle is not available, that is called full ash. And cool it at 200 centigrade, take it out, put it into the dryer for cooling, weigh it. Do the job once more till the mean error between the first job and the second job shall not exceed 0.5mg.

Measurement of Heavy Metals
After measurement of ash, 0.5 ml nitric acid is added in the ash, then steams it till dry, and cools it until NO 2 comes out. Hydrochloride acid 2 ml is added, and is then placed on the boiling water for drying, and deionized water 15 ml is added, seven drops of NH3OH is added until the display solvent shows neutral, and is heated and placed into a Na color comparation tube, then deionized water is added and made 25 ml solution, and 1 ml mol/1 l CH3COOH and 10 ml saturated H2S solution are also added, and be kept for 10 minutes. Its color shall not be darker than standardized solution.
Take out Pb solution 10 ml and is diluted to 100 ml, then take out 2 ml from it, do the same job as the above mentioned.
Measurement of Arsenium
1) sample
Put 5 ml hydrochloride acid in the ash, and pour it into arsenium testing bottle, and 5 ml 16.5% KI solution plus 5 drops of acidic SnCl are added, then 3 g zinc particle is added, then the lid is fixed tightly and is placed on the boiling water at 25-40 centigrade, one hour later, please make comparison with the standardized solution, the color of arsenium shall not be darker than the standardized solution.
2) Standardized solution
Take out 0.001 mg/ml 1 ml as standardized solution, then 5 ml 16.5% KI plus 5 drops of Sync solution are added, and 5 ml hydrochloride acid is added, 3 g zinc particle is added too, then the lid is fixed tightly as done to the sample.
